The Museums FDA GRANDFATHER Clause Petition DOCUMENTATION OF FIRST MARKETING AND SALE: SPECIFIC MEDICINES Jan 1, 1870 Since 1870 - Lloyd Brothers [Specific Medicines] Cannabis Tincture CANNABIS TINCTURE DOCUMENTATION OF FIRST MARKETING AND SALE: From a historical perspective Cannabis in tincture or liquid form, has been offered for sale in this country since the late 1840's.   However, for the purpose of this petition, only one tincture 'Specific Medicines' (a copyrighted trade name), will be discussed.   Fortunately for us (due mostly to a personality dispute between two people who wrote articles insulting one another) documenting this one Brand name product was real easy. The Eclectic Medical Journal - Jan 1870 Vol 30 No. 1 First marketing Ad for 'Specific Medicines'.   Note that the firm was known as H.M. Merrell & Co. [A] at the time.
