MEDICINE BAG:
The Searle & Hereth Company was only in business from 1888 through 1890!! Gideon Searle purchased the O.K. Drug Store in Fortville, Indiana in 1868. Later that year he purchased another store in Anderson Indiana which he renamed Henderson & Searle. He moved to Omaha Nebraska where he met his future business partner, Dr. Wm Hereth. In 1888 a manufacturing business called SEARLE & HERETH was established. The pharmaceutical manufacturing business was relatively short lived. Just over two years after opening Searle & Hereth, Gideon bought his partner's shares of the business, relocated to Chicago and changed the company name to G.D. Searle & Co 1890. The name later changed to Searle Laboratories.
