W. R. Warner & Co., Tolu and Codeine Compound with Cannabis. Tolu (from the bark of the tolu tree) and Cannabis seemed to be used together a lot. This is a fine example of the two together.
Wm WARNER Bottle w/ Label 16oz CANNABIS - A very rare find -- William Warner early medicine with these contents. Bottle with original cork, labels, etc stands 8" tall. Bottle with original liquid, as shown on front label, is very heavy. Label reads in part, "G421 Syrup / Tolu and Codeine Compound / Special Warner / Cannabis, Lovelia, odeine Sulphate, Alcohol 10%, Chloroform. Med. Prop-Bronchial Sedative, Expectorant / William R. Warner & Co., Inc, New York, St. Louis". Embossing on back of bottle reads with a circle, "William R. Warner & Co., New York, St. Louis". This bottle appears to have never been opened.
